Jones County Jury convicts man of Sexual Exploitation of Children
On May 30, 2019, Michael Thomas Day was convicted of two counts of Sexual Exploitation of Children. During 2 day trial, the State proved that the defendant had more than 28,000 images of prepubescent girls in sexually explicit poses and conduct. The jury emphatically rejected the defendant’s argument that this was not a problem for Jones County because these images were taken of nameless girls in a country far removed from Gray , Georgia. By returning their verdict in under 10 minutes the Jury declared that these nameless children would receive at least some measure of justice here in Jones County. The Defendant was sentenced to the maximum of 40 years.
