Jones County case on Youngblood affirmed by Court of Appeals

Even with the current shutdown of jury trials due to COVID restrictions, the Office of the District Attorney has been busy defending prior convictions in the Court of Appeals and the Supreme Court of Georgia. Today, another conviction by the citizens of Jones County was affirmed. James Ira Youngblood was convicted of shooting a guest at his home after a drunken disagreement in the early morning hours of New Year's Day 2014. The case was tried in May, 2016 and a Jones County jury convicted Mr. Youngblood of Aggravated Assault with a firearm. Former Judge Hugh V. Wingfield sentenced the defendant to Twenty (20) years with the first eight (8) years to be served in confinement. The case was prosecuted and subsequently defended on appeal by Senior Assistant District Attorney Dawn M. Baskin.
