Greene County jury finds man guilty of Burglary and 2 counts of Theft by Taking
Christopher Lee Hewell, 37, was convicted by a Greene County jury of Burglary in the 1st degree and 2 counts of Theft by Taking. Hewell had been a handyman performing work around the victim’s house and began stealing from him over a period of time. When the homeowner left to go out of town, Hewell entered and stole a television and a gas blower. Hewell also stole items from another individual that rented a room in the house that Hewell lived in. Some, but not all, of the items were recovered by the Greene County Sheriff’s Office. At the time of the new charges, Hewell was on probation for 2 counts of Burglary in the 1st degree after being convicted in 2015 for 2 residential burglaries. Hewell was sentenced to 20 years, with 12 years to be served in prison.
