Today, 50-year-old Jimmy Terrell Scott was sentenced in the Superior Court of Baldwin County to thirty years in prison for the crime of Criminal Attempt to Commit Rape.

On March 25, 2025, the Defendant's housing case worker came to his residence to do an inspection. According to both the victim and the defendant, the defendant made up a reason to get the victim inside his bedroom, at which point he shut the door, threw her on the bed, and attempted to rape her. The victim was able to set off her car alarm, which stopped the assault and allowed the victim the opportunity to escape. The defendant is a recidivist with prior convictions to include a 1994 conviction for Aggravated Assault with Intent to Rape and a 2004 conviction for Aggravated Assault with Intent to Rape and False Imprisonment.

The defendant was out of prison for less than a year when he attacked the victim in this case. Our hope is that Mr. Scott spends the rest of his natural life behind bars.

We would like to thank Superior Court Judge Amanda Petty for following the State's recommendation. We would also like to thank ADA Sydney Segers, the Milledgeville Police Department and Baldwin County Sheriff's Office for their work on this case.
