The Jones County District Attorney’s Office had a busy and successful trial term obtaining significant sentences in four serious cases involving crimes against children and family violence.

Jonathan Wright plead guilty to 20 counts of Sexual Exploitation of Children and was sentenced to 50 years, with 18 years to serve in prison. The investigation began after the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) received a cyber tip from Kik Messaging Service concerning child sexual abuse material that Wright had shared with another account on Kik. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation investigated the tip and executed a search warrant at Wright’s residence where they recovered devices that contained child sexual abuse material.

Levi Marsh plead guilty to Statutory Rape and Child Molestation and was sentenced to 40 years, with 20 years to serve in prison. This resolution ensures that Marsh is held accountable while sparing the two victims from having to endure the difficulty of a trial. We hope this resolution allows them to continue healing and moving forward without having to relive these events in a courtroom.

Roger Evans pleaded guilty to Aggravated Assault – Family Violence and Aggravated Battery – Family Violence and was sentenced to 40 years, with 30 years to serve in prison. Evans intentionally set his girlfriend on fire, causing devastating injuries. She remained hospitalized for several months and has undergone more than 20 surgeries as a result of the attack. Her recovery continues today.

Matthew Mixter was found guilty following a bench trial of 20 counts of Sexual Exploitation of Children and was sentenced to 60 years, with 30 years to serve in prison. The investigation began after the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) received multiple cyber tips from Synchronoss Technologies concerning child sexual abuse material that had been uploaded to Mixter’s Verizon cloud account. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation investigated the tips and executed a search warrant at Mixter’s residence. Investigators recovered his cellular phone, which contained more than 2,000 images of child sexual abuse material, including images depicting the sexual abuse of infants and toddlers.

These cases represent countless hours of work by law enforcement officers, investigators, prosecutors, victim advocates, and others committed to seeking justice for victims in our community. The Jones County District Attorney’s Office remains committed to holding offenders accountable, protecting victims, and pursuing justice in even the most difficult cases.

All cases were prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney, Cara Fiore.
