Evans convicted in Baldwin County
Hakeem Evans, of Eatonton, was convicted in Baldwin County Superior Court on Wednesday, September 4, 2024, of kidnapping and battery. On May 7, 2023, Mr. Evans violently attacked the mother of his child during an argument at her Ivey Drive apartment. He then grabbed their 6 year old son and fled with the child, who witnessed the attack on his mother and was crying for her, telling his father he didn't want to leave with him. Approximately two hours later, Baldwin County deputies were able to locate Evans outside a relative's home in Eatonton. The child was safe and asleep in a nearby vehicle. The District Attorney's Office would like to thank the Baldwin County Sheriff's Office and the Crescent House for their professionalism and dedication in seeking justice in this case.
This morning, Hakeem Evans was sentenced by the Honorable Terry N. Massey to twenty-five (25) years to serve in the Georgia Department of Corrections followed by probation for life.
