Moats Sentenced to 20 Years to Serve
Brandon Ryan Moats, 24, of Milledgeville was sentenced to 20 years in prison followed by 20 years of probation after pleading guilty in Baldwin Superior Court to armed robbery and related charges for the car-jacking of a Milledgeville woman at Kroger during the morning of September 16, 2023. Moats approached the victim, who had just loaded her groceries into her vehicle, and told her he had a gun. He grabbed her car keys from her hand, threw her to the ground, and stole her car. The victim's vehicle was quickly located by Baldwin deputies who were assisted by the Flock camera system. After a short foot chase, Moats was arrested and later identified by the victim. As a result of his guilty plea to armed robbery, Moats will not be eligible for parole.
The District Attorney's Office would like to especially thank Lt. Brandon Towe and Deputy Chance Rogers for the quick response and apprehension of Moats and for the recovery of the victim's property. The case was prosecuted by Baldwin Assistant District Attorney Nancy Scott Moskaly.
