Putnam County woman sentenced to Prison after stealing from Church


Angela Renee New was convicted by a Putnam County Jury today on several counts of Theft by Taking, Financial Transaction Card Fraud, and Forgery in the Fourth Degree. New was charged with stealing money from the Eatonton First United Methodist Church over a period of time when she worked as the Administrative Assistant for the Pastor of the Church. New was sentenced by Honorable William A. Prior, Jr. to twenty-two (22) years to serve the first fifteen (15) years in confinement. Upon her release from confinement, she will be required to pay $74,000.00 in restitution to the Eatonton First United Methodist Church. Job well done to Assistant District Attorney, Wright Barksdale, and Third Year Practicing Attorney, Faith Worley.
